As the name states, Village 29 provides 29 units on a compact .82 AC site. Utilizing creative design solutions, WHA maximized the site without jeopardizing livability. This was achieved by taking a different approach to alley design through activating the interior streets with entries and decks. Working closely with the City of El Cerrito on setbacks and reduced parking allowed us to have a mix of 1, 2, and tandem garages which resulted in a denser product. The city encouraged integrating a 410 SF micro-unit consisting of one bedroom, one bath, kitchen and living room, with a 1-car garage. The diverse mix of floor plans range from 410 – 2,090 SF, 1-5 bedrooms, and 1-4 baths. Plan 4 provides a rental opportunity with a lock-out suite on the first level. Volume ceilings in the primary bedroom and decks off the living room and primary bedroom maximize livability for the narrow interior units. The unique elevation style has progressive organization of massing and window placement enhanced with uniform colors and materials.
